About VanaUnreal

A familiar world. A new foundation.

An independent Final Fantasy XI fan project by Krispy, taking shape in Unreal Engine.

What I’m building

VanaUnreal explores bringing the places, atmosphere and identity of Final Fantasy XI into Unreal Engine. The goal is to keep the world recognizable while building a dependable experience underneath it.

The first goal is small: an area you can move through and a complete battle you can play. More places, jobs and story content come later, once those basics work.

My open-source direction

The plan is to make VanaUnreal open source after a working product is ready. Before sharing code or files, I need time to review copyright, licensing and Square Enix’s rights. This review will determine what can be released and under which license; some content may need to remain excluded. Open source is the intended direction, not a promise of a release date or permission to redistribute Final Fantasy XI assets. This independent fan project is not affiliated with or endorsed by Square Enix.
