Keeping Vana’diel’s familiar look

I’m comparing terrain and foliage while keeping the places you remember recognizable.

A wider look at the landscape. Lighting, trees and ground collision are still being worked on.

What changed

Development captures now include a La Theine landscape study. Recent foliage comparisons also looked at how the trees respond to the current lighting.

What it means for players

The goal is not to replace Final Fantasy XI’s identity. Familiar shapes, places, and atmosphere should remain recognizable as the project takes shape in Unreal Engine.

What still needs work

Some foliage is still too dark. The current captures are work in progress, not final art or proof that an area is ready to play.

What’s next

Continue the lighting comparison, check it against the original look, and review the result before applying changes more widely.
