The Expedition Chronicler in Celennia Expedition Hall manages a character-scoped weekly Ledger. Six objectives track automatically. Complete any three for the full weekly currency reward; the other three remain available for lifetime Ledger score only. Nothing here gates missions, jobs, normal gathering, retail equipment, Prestige, or Apex entry.

Weekly structure

Every rotation contains exactly one objective from each already-live activity category. The rotation is derived from the UTC Unix Earth week, so the same week always replays the same six objectives on every server process.

SlotActivityRotating target
1Hunting League victories2, 3, or 4
2Dungeon Gauntlet clears1, 2, or 3
3Completed crafting commissions2, 3, or 4
4Completed Survey Contracts1, 2, or 3
5Successful Forge or Salvage services2, 3, or 4
6Credited kills of the featured monster family15, 18, or 20, by family

The fixed six-category layout prevents duplicate or mutually exclusive selections. Objectives activate automatically; the player chooses the week by deciding which three activities to complete. Casino play, a specific real-world hour, a login streak, and client-only random events are never required.

Rewards and Ledger score

Milestone in the current Earth weekDeterministic reward
First completed Directive25 Expedition Renown plus 1 Ledger score
Second completed Directive25 Expedition Renown plus 1 Ledger score
Third completed Directive25 Expedition Renown, 2 Boss Essences, 5 Artisan Seals, plus 1 Ledger score
Fourth through sixth completed Directives1 Ledger score each; no currency

The maximum weekly Directive payout is therefore 75 Expedition Renown, 2 Boss Essences, and 5 Artisan Seals. A completed objective cannot pay or score twice. Ledger score is lifetime recognition and currently buys no combat power.

Earth-week reset rules

  • The Earth-week key is floor(UTC Unix seconds / 604800); local time zones and daylight-saving changes do not affect it.
  • On first Ledger access after a boundary, the prior completion mask, reward count, and six progress counters reset.
  • Expired incomplete progress is not restored and does not receive retroactive credit.
  • Lifetime Ledger score, Survey Map pity, a discovered-but-unaccepted map, and an active map persist.
  • Corrupt negative or over-limit counters are clamped. An uncompleted progress counter can never normalize directly into a free completion.

Rotating family studies

Only a credited killer event for the character advances the current family. A wrong family, a non-killer notification, or a repeat after completion gives no progress.

Family studies intentionally accept appropriate members anywhere in normal Vana'diel or custom content. They are a low-pressure world-use objective, not an endgame damage check. Players who prefer harder content can complete any three of the other five Directives instead.

Survey Map discovery

Completing a rewarded Survey Contract creates one eligible map-discovery roll when no map is ready or active and the character has not already discovered a map that Earth week.

Eligible contract after the last discoveryConditional discovery chanceChance discovery occurs on this attemptCumulative chance by this attempt
120%20%20%

320%12.8%48.8%
420%10.24%59.04%
5100% hard pity40.96%100%

Pity counts only eligible completed contracts and persists across Earth weeks. It pauses while a map is ready or active and after the weekly discovery has been used. There is no paid reroll, Casino connection, or hidden luck statistic.

Survey Map routes and completion

A discovered map selects one of the four published HELM pilot routes deterministically from character ID and discovery week:

  • West Sarutabaruta harvesting
  • Ghelsba Outpost logging
  • Tahrongi Canyon excavation
  • Zeruhn Mines mining

Accept the route from the Expedition Chronicler. The map persists until completion and offers a one-way convenience trip to the existing normal-zone arrival used by the Field Surveyor. Five successful native HELM gathers in the marked zone complete it. Wrong zones, no-item attempts, inventory-full outcomes, and wait-denied attempts give zero map progress.

Completion grants exactly 50 Expedition Renown and 1 Artisan Seal. The ordinary gathered item remains the only material created; the map never duplicates materials or changes native item weights. One discovery per Earth week and one outstanding map at a time cap the route.

Hall menus

The Expedition Chronicler provides:

  • weekly completion, reward, and lifetime score status
  • separate Directive 1-3 and 4-6 reports
  • the featured family study
  • Survey Map status, acceptance, active-route travel, and exact rules
  • the weekly reset and reward schedule

That proves payload safety, not visible layout or NPC placement.
